{"id":1341,"date":"2019-10-25T11:18:31","date_gmt":"2019-10-25T10:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pepsi.aip.de\/?p=1341"},"modified":"2019-10-25T12:39:33","modified_gmt":"2019-10-25T11:39:33","slug":"potassium-detected-on-exoplanet-atmosphere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pepsi.aip.de\/?p=1341","title":{"rendered":"Potassium detected on exoplanet atmosphere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We investigated the potassium excess absorption around 7699 \u00c5 of the exoplanets HD189733b and HD209458b using high-spectral resolution transit observations acquired with the 2 \u00d7 8.4 m Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) and the Potsdam Echelle Polarimetric and Spectroscopic Instrument (PEPSI). For a bandwidth of 0.8 \u00c5, we present a detection &gt;7\u03c3 with an absorption level of 0.18 per cent for HD189733b. Applying the same analysis to HD209458b, we can set 3\u03c3 upper limit of 0.09 per cent, even though a K-excess absorption was not detected.
